Tobey: The Snow book

It's always fun to come back home and see some of the books we had as kids, now in the hands of our own kids.

Tobey and Morgan have particularly taken to a Dr. Suessish book called Snow. They both like reading it and I've caught Grandmommy reading it to them a couple of times. I've read it to him maybe twice and I don't know about Tom.

But what blew me away was that yesterday he wanted to read it during our Kwokfest party and I was more interested in chatting than reading to him. So I told him to read it himself. He started to flip through it and recite the book! Some pages are pretty verbatim, others were 50%. He gets the rhyme, he probably remembers certain pages by the pictures. It's not a short book, 60-pages with a 4-8 line rhyme on each pair of pages. And sometimes when he couldn't think of the words on the page, I tried to prompt him by sounding out the first word or line to him.

My mom said Andrew started out like this: memorizing books but then realizing he actually knew the words to read new books. I'm still amazed by his preschooler ability to memorize.
