Tobey: Future career found

I have found a way to combine Tobey's two interests: garbage/recycling and space. With the recent clashing of two satellites, there's talk about how to clean up the earth's orbit from all the space junk. I can't think of a more perfect merging of the two.

When I told Tobey about the situation, he was interested. He suggested sending up a rocket with a big vacuum cleaner. I was able to tell him about how sometimes they can get a satellite to make a controlled fall to the earth. Later I can tell him about the higher and lower orbits and ways to prevent the floating junk, not just clean up afterward. Just when I was lamenting the end of the space shuttle program in 2010, I am kind of excited about what else the next generation of astronauts can do (and what they could ride to get out there!).

In the meantime, Tobey's current recycle (!) art project is to make a Wall-E replica. He also said he wanted to be Wall-E for Halloween next year. I don't know if I can handle that now still 8 months away -- that might just be too much fun.
