Eli: Day/Night mixup

Child still has day and night mixed up. When I think about it, he's only 2.5 weeks but it feels like a long time and not a moment too soon if he would learn day and night. Last night, not only would he not let us put him down for sleep (unless he was really konked out), but after his nighttime nursings, his eyes were wide open ready for entertainment. Argh! Why couldn't he do this in the daytime? I'm having a hard time trying to wake him in the day so he'll sleep at night.

To add insult to injury to last night, this morning, after we could finally put Eli down at 3:30AM, we woke to the noise of my travel alarm that Tobey had played with yesterday. Not only did he change the time to an hour earlier, he had set the alarm so at 6AM we woke to the pleasant beeping of the alarm and the unpleasant crying of Eli. And of course, after nursing, his eyes were wide open and I was trying to entertain him at 7AM.

Eli, buddy, daytime = light out = playtime. Nighttime = dark out = sleep! I know you're just being a normal newborn but we wouldn't mind if you would hurry it up a little bit.

Do you have a swing? We can lend you our aquatic swing if you don't have one. That really helped when we needed Keona to sleep at night. Sometimes we let her sleep in the swing for 4 hrs. We asked the pediatrician and she said it's okay. Or just use the swing to make her go to sleep and then transfer her to the bassinet.
