We...are...famileee

Tom's parents went out to 99 Ranch for dou-jiang and a short break. Then Tom realized, it's the first time we've been home as a foursome family by ourselves. (The other night when his parents went grocery shopping at night and we put the kids to bed don't quite count.) It felt good (even though we're skipping church this week!) as Eli nursed and now Tom's out with Tobey for a bike ride. All is peaceful and nice for now.

It's been great having Tom home and it will be sad to kiss him goodbye to work tomorrow. After a sidewalk chat with Ed, our neighbor, Tom's contemplating taking the California Family Medical Leave (not sure what the official name is). Not sure when to take it: when the parents are here or not here? Now (newborn days) or later (holidays are an idea)? What will he do -- including lots of time with the kids and possibly setting up our living trust, etc.? He could treat it as a sabbatical and yet at the same time, his company just moved over to Juniper and now is possibly a time they are starting to integrate with the other acquired company too. Part of me is afraid of being spoiled with Tom at home for a few weeks. At the same time, I would be crazy to forgo it.
