Eli: HALLELUJAH!

Eli slept through the night! He last fed at 9:45PM, fell asleep at 10:45PM and we didn't hear from him again until 6:45AM this morning!

Unlike when Tobey first slept through the night, I didn't wake up multiple times, look at the clock, wonder if he's okay, and debate whether I should pump. I gloriously slept through the whole thing, like sleeping through the night was intended to be.

The night actually started out a little rough as we let him cry to sleep. It wasn't intentional. We put him down awake and swaddled and in past nights (usually in the middle of the night but two nights ago at bedtime too), he's fallen asleep with nary a peep. Last night he fussed, complaining, but with gaps of silence in between. We had already started our bedtime snacks ;-) so we thought we'd let him fuss his obligatory 4 minutes and then finish our snack and then get him. By the time snack was over, he was done fussing and we never went in to get him. It took about 10 minutes although when you're ignoring your crying baby it always feels longer. No wonder Tobey slept through the night at 10 weeks -- maybe it takes 10 minutes of fussing to fall asleep on your own?

Although I'm excited, I set my expectations low and will expect to get up for a 3AM feeding tonight. But at least we know it can be done and look forward to his repeat performance!
