Costco
Masochist that I am, I made a trip to Costco with two kids in tow. Yes, I vowed I would never but the circumstances were good: we were already out of the house early because of Eli's well-check and Eli was sleeping after getting shots. I needed wipes among other things so there was no better time than the present.
The trip went splendidly. The only way it could have been better was if Eli was sleeping the whole time and Tobey sat quietly in the shopping cart. But given that that didn't happen, Eli miraculously stayed pretty peaceful in the carseat in the shopping cart and Tobey did really well in staying close to me.
At one point they were both crying: Eli because he was starting to get ansy and Tobey because he dropped his smoothie sample on the floor. I was feeling a little embarassed, like people must be looking at me thinking, "Why does she even bother?". Even when we were checking out, Eli was crying so I had to carry him, garnering sympathies and smiles from the checkers. He also got to ride in the shopping cart sitting up for the first time leaving me to feel like such a Costco mama with two kids in the double shopping cart seat that the large Costco carts had.
Besides the things on my list, I was able to take a look at a nice solid wood bunkbed. It got me thinking about when we will transition Tobey into a twin bed and dreaming about a little boys room with bunkbed for Tobey and Eli. Although buying the furniture is a ways off, it did start me thinking and I saw a lot more selection online at Costco. I think Tobey is the last of his age to still be in a crib. Zachary, Christopher, Joshua are all in big boy beds.
Anyway, I loaded everything and the drive home was peaceful. In the words of Wallace: "Well, that went as well as could be expected."
