Best friends

Both the first night and this morning, the recording Leap Pad asked Tobey the name of his best friend. Both times, Tobey said, "My brother's name is Eli!" or "My friend's name is Eli." My dream that they would become a best friends came true! Now if only Tobey would stop hitting him.

Right now Tobey is making a pinata for Eli, hanging a pull toy from the basketball hoop and telling Eli to hit it with his soft stick. Very cute. From the looks of it, Eli's best friend is Tobey too. Eli's face lights up, all toys drop, and squealing starts when Tobey wakes up from his nap and we get to go into his room to say hi.

Maybe this explains why Tobey doesn't seem particularly attached to any of his friends. We hear about friends' kids praying for Tobey, asking for Tobey, wanting to play with or hug Tobey. Frankly, it's embarassing that Tobey doesn't reciprocate and doesn't often ask for his friends (maybe Cedric, if we've just seen him).

Actually, sometimes he'll ask about friends when we're driving around in their general direction. He asks about Jocelyn if we're driving up 280 or Zachary or Christopher is we're driving down 85. Anna if we drive to Cuesta Park. And sometimes Joshua D (our neighbor) when we're driving home!

Friends or no friends, at least our decision to have a 2nd kid so that there'd be siblings seems to be paying off, even with all the work that it is.
