Potty training - 3 days and counting

I fear blogging this lest I curse myself. But Tobey has gone puddle free since Saturday.

Minus the unusual "patty" we had yesterday when he didn't make it to the potty for poop. That was highly unusual because poop has been the more consistent of the two potty training phases.

Minus part of yesterday when he had swim diapers on for a while, one he definitely peed in and a second I think he peed in when he got out of the wading pool but I'm not sure.

It's been a mix of him alerting us and us insisting that he go (either by predicting need or when we see the dance). At home it's been nice not to go through the whole cleanup process (which we first instituted for him but then he started to like cleaning up too much). It's been REAL nice that he can go quietly enough not to wake up Eli in the next room and it's been real, real nice that Eli can now sleep through the flushing of the toilet.

We're about 50/50 when we're out and about with him. He's really afraid of the automatic flushing toilets, plugging his ears when he thinks it's going to flush, often making balancing on the seat hard and pulling his own pants up a bit impossible. Sometimes he plugs his ears just at the sound of someone else walking into the restroom. It was unclear whether he went during toddler nursery on Sunday but it was nice to know that today he told a teacher during MTO toddler nursery and she took him.

Anna said that it sounds like he's there with potty training. I've been burned so much in the last 3 weeks that I'm too afraid to declare success just yet. I think my expectations and hopes were really high in the beginning, aspiring to be one of those families whose kids potty trained in one weekend with no accidents. I'm still anxious about it but 3 going on 4 days of not having to clean up a puddle gives me reason to hope.
