Eli: Upgraded to a nebulizer
Just in case you thought you were reading the same post twice, nope. Tobey was upgraded to a nebulizer last week and this week, it's Eli. After a miserable night on Tuesday night, I was glad that the next day was Eli's 15 month checkup. Might as well get our money's worth by bringing a sick kid to the 15 month checkup -- get free sick advice while doing a well-check.
Eli hates "the puffer" and cries and squirms when we give it to him. It's slightly better if you point out the cute little teddy bear cartoon on the side diagramming the inhaler. So I thought Eli would kick and scream with the "astronaut mask" (which of course the name "astronaut mask" means nothing to him). But after a rocky 1st treatment, I found that he does okay if you just keep him sufficiently distracted for the 5 minutes that it takes to get his breathing treatment through the nebulizer.
Pros, these kids are. They'll probably be able to take the inhaler straight by the time they're in kindergarten, kind of like Uncle Matthew.
