Tobey: Self-dressed

Sometimes after nap, or occasionally in the morning, Tobey will go to the potty by himself. I am still tickled at hearing the noise of him opening and closing the door himself, a totally independent little guy. It's those moments you feel like all the work is worth it. And that he doesn't do things like wake up his mommy in the middle of the night just to tell her he went pee like some kids I know (i.e., me, when I was younger).

Surprises of all surprises, yesterday morning I heard the sound of Tobey wake up and go to the potty. (Tom was already in the playroom with Mr. Early Riser.) "Great! He went to the potty himself!", I thought. But then I heard him go back into his room. Then I heard his dresser drawers open and shut, open and shut. Could he really be dressing himself? But I didn't think he could reach his underwear drawer. But I just lay there, as any parent on a Saturday morning would, until crisis ensues and Tobey would surely scream for help.

But he never did. After the drawers stopped opening and closing, I went to check in and found a fully clothed Tobey. He got dressed all by himself, no nagging, no prompting, no help. His clothing choice wasn't that bad either, no worse than Tom (that's for another post). Although I actually wanted him to wear different clothes that day because we were going to a nice birthday party, I let him keep these clothes on as long as possible.

It was a proud moment, for both Tobey and parents.
