Eli: Is it worth waking?

I've been tearing my hair out trying to get some decent awake time in the daytime for this child. And the times he's eyes wide open after his 3AM feeding just drive me crazy and motivate me more to follow Dr. Moore's advice about waking the baby every couple of hours in the day so he'll learn day/night.

But after yesterday evening when he fell asleep after his 7:30PM feeding and Tom couldn't wake him (well, unless he was crying his lungs out, which Dr. Moore is all for), I started entertaining this nagging thought in my head: is it really worth trying to wake him when he's out to the world? Should we just go with his current rhythm and save us a little stress and hair? Will he learn any faster if we're waking him in the daytime? Will he learn eventually anyway? Will he develop poor sleeping habits if we're waking him randomly out of his sleep cycle?

I forgot when Tobey learned day/night. Guess 2nd child experience isn't helping here. On a positive sleep note, Eli has had two decent sleeping nights when sleeping in the guest room.
