Eli: The magic swaddle
Although I'm the one up nursing Eli in the middle of the night, Tom's "job" is to swaddle him nice and snug when it's time to put him down again. I must admit that I feel inferior in the swaddle area, especially after Tom discovered this new fangled swaddle for Eli that keeps his arms near his chest instead of to his side like we did with Tobey.
The other night after the middle of the night nursing, Eli was real squirmy. Usually I wait for him to calm down before waking Tom to swaddle him. But he was up for an hour squirming, not really onthe brink of crying but just arms and legs in constant motion. I couldn't take it anymore and wondered if swaddling him while squirmy was a fruitless endeavor or would actually help Eli calm down by restricting his flailing limbs. But I was desperate.
Turns out, the swaddle worked like magic. Not only did he fall back asleep, he fell back asleep without a peep. All hail the magic swaddle. I feel more inferior than ever! :-)
