Earplugs

It is pretty pathetic how Tom and I would sleep in the couch and futon to get away from Eli when visitors sleep in "his" room. This last trip when my parents came we wanted them to stay with us instead of a hotel but didn't want them to feel bad that we were sleeping on the couches. So we tried earplugs.

I don't know why we didn't try this before, the earplugs worked like a charm. It has the same effect as the baby monitor turned down low -- we only hear the real cries. I can't do it long term -- it's always a relief to take the earplugs OUT. But for a few days here and there, it seems the better solution.

The next test? Maybe my parents' next trip in November. We'll also have to find a sleeping solution for when Dennis & Denise come with Emily and Rachel. Four kids in the house, 3 bedrooms. Eli for sure will be back in our room but what about Tobey...
