Unfinished projects

The moms group nametags last week was the first project of recent memory that I actually finished. I was on the dangerous road to eternal procastination but the accountability of Christine Harms and the committee (who were the only ones that knew about my ambition) got me to push through that wall of procrastination that I've hit in so many other "projects" that I've started in mom-dom. It felt good to finish and it was great to see the moms tickled to stick on the little "heads".

Projects that have yet to make the "finished!" cut (and their state):

- Tom's Father's Day Tobey lookalike booklet (pictures and cardstock all cut out; not sure how to back or fasten together)
- The infamous dining room wall pictures (have somewhat given up on finding 12x12 and not 12.5x12.5 black frames at a normal price; starting to not be as excited about the concept anymore; gotten used to seeing mysterious craft paper squares taped to the wall in abstract art like fashion)
- Curtains in our picture windows in the living room (rods and sheer layers bought; despite comments from various friends and family that curtains aren't really necessary since our backyard is rather private, the landscaper visits to the backyard make me feel more like a fish in a fishbowl than before)
- Numerous blog posts!

And the ones that haven't even started:

- Art clips in the playroom to hang art (probably more important after Tobey starts school)
- Wall decor...everywhere including playroom, living room, our room, stark white hall bathroom (am I too picky or too afraid of "commitment" on the walls?)
- Furniture/bed set/bunkbed for the kids (just window shopping for now; too early to know if we'll make good on intention for boys to share a room)

Oh yeah, and I forgot making video compilations of our dozen or so tapes of Tobey and Eli. That project is so far off the radar that, well, they fell off my radar.

I'm still enjoying doing the moms group decorations, my mini-creative outlet and "ministry" of late. Although I do stress over it sometimes when I am lacking in idea (I'm now formally splitting the time half/half with Eva which is great), I'm not losing interest or dreading it which is usually what I do when I lack an idea over a project. It was a role I picked specifically due to my gifts, resisting the tendency to do everything or volunteer where I think I should (like leading worship or a more "spiritual" role of table leader or prayer committee). I think it suits me at this point in my life and I hope God is as pleased as the moms seem to be.
