How their minds work

Most nights, one of us "chitchats" with Tobey, just 10-15 min. at the end of bedtime where we lay in the dark and just talk about the day or whatever. It started out as a soothing ritual so he wouldn't pop out of bed so much. It worked at first, but now it only sometimes works but more importantly, I actually like connecting with Tobey at the end of the day.

We've done all sorts of things like make up silly words, I've taught him about initials and acronyms, I've used it as my "vent" time if he was especially bad that evening, on Sundays I make it a preview-of-the-week-ahead time. Really it could be anything.

Tonight we talked about how we'll be on a plane tomorrow and we're taking a new airline. And I realized Tobey doesn't really know what an airline is except for "United" or "American Airlines". So when I told him how airlines specialize in going to certain cities or some are fancy and some are inexpensive, then he asks...

"How do they buy airplanes?"
"Oh. Well, the airline has a lot of money to buy airplanes and pay their pilots."
"That's gotta be a really big store!"

And it's moments like these why I enjoy chitchat time.
