Eli: Short end of the stick

Poor Eli. Poor 2nd, 3rd and 4th children in families. He's already getting the short end of the stick.

We definitely let him cry more than with Tobey. Partially because we're more confident about trying Dr. Moore's cry-for-one-minute-per-week-of-life "program". Partially because we just can't get to him fast enough. Partially because we've expounded half of our energy on Tobey that we don't have enough energy to respond to every cry he has right when he has it.

We also move him while sleeping. I just remember that with Tobey, if he was sleeping, we'd be "stuck" holding him out of fear of waking him up. And while we have done that with Eli too, sometimes now, like if we have to get out of the house, eh, just plop him in the carseat and hope he'll fall asleep again. I hope it's good for him in the long run anyway, learn to be flexible.

And poor kid, while he is sleeping, sometimes he has a 2 year old older brother poking and squeezing him. Again, I hope that teaches Eli to be a more "robust" sleeper and not so sensitive to everything.

Certainly he's getting the 2nd child experience and not the 1st and only child treatment.
