Tobey: Big boy bed
I forgot to mention that we started Tobey on the big boy bed on Friday. We had the bed setup but only on Friday did we get a waterproof mattress pad. So far so good in the bed, depending on which way you look at it.
Tobey hasn't fallen out yet. We didn't put on the rail because his bed is next to the end of the crib, which encloses the first third of the bed's length. Tobey doesn't crawl out of bed in the middle of the night which I'm thankful for. I actually never really had a fear of that happening.
But the part that still needs work which was the reason I was gung ho about starting on the bed in the first place: in the morning when he starts yelling for us to come get him. Despite nightly reminders of how he can get out of bed and play quietly in the morning until we get him, he still yells, "Uh!" or "Mommmmeeee!" or other utterances that might wake up Eli. Luckily for Tobey, Eli has been getting up earlier on his own, so Tobey's yelling doesn't make for a cranky Mommy. I'm already cranky because of Eli's early waking.
Well, but chalk up yet another big milestone that Tobey has transitioned to with minimal pain for me. Binky weaning, bottle weaning, crib weaning. Now if only we can do diaper weaning as easily.

Congrats on smooth transitions. For some reason, we have been slower and slower to transition each successive child. Either I subconsciously never want them to grow up and leave us, or I've grown to depend on the insurmountable crib rails to guarantee us an extra hour of sleep (and parental sanity). As far as potty training, I have all but given up on the little ones based on how long it took Connor (age 3.5).
