Eli: Affinity for reading and Thomas

Eli is finally more interested in books, reading them that is and not just ripping them or crying if I don't let him go by page 2. I'm thankful that Tobey was never a page ripper.

Besides trying to read to Eli while he's captive and drinking milk from his bottle, he will actually sometimes sit down and "read" on his own. Maybe that was a positive influence from Tobey. But I must say that he doesn't always sit through a whole book if I pick a random book and sit down to read it. It more often starts out with me and Eli, about halfway through, he'll run away but then Tobey will inevitably hear the sound of a book being read and I'll end up finishing the book with Tobey.

Eli also seems to like Thomas. Ironically, we haven't been watching Thomas on TV at all. We have the trains and a book from the library, which he likes to pick out to read. And out of the trains, he doesn't usually grab for anyone but blue Thomas. Character recognition already!

Well, I'm glad it's Thomas and not something more annoying. I guess there's something to be said for controlling content in the house so annoying things like Barney or Boobah's don't get in. Maybe it's time to reinstate the Thomas season pass.
