Sad, but true

I've been completely engulfed by family issues tonight, Skyping with my dad and brother and then Skype chatting with my brother afterwards. And persuant to Tom and my agreement to try to at least be in the same room if we're both going to be on our own laptops anyway, Tom was in the living room while I was at the dining room table on the laptop (does that count?).

It was no less than an hour later that I realized: the kids' Chinese song CD has been playing on infinite repeat even after the kids went to sleep at 9. We had kids' music, annoying Chinese stuff on top of that, playing as our background music. And not because we like it, but because we're so used to it that it didn't faze us that it was on unnecessarily.

Just when I thought laptopping separately for an hour was sad enough, this is even sadder.
