Forgot I have two

I ran into Jenn Lin today at Valero. After chatting, she peeks into the car to say bye to Tobey. Then she declares, "Only one?" I was confused as to what she was referring to. And even when I realized she was talking about kids, then I was confused as to what was so unusual about only being with one child. And then I realized, wow, I guess I do have a 2nd child! For a split second I wondered where he was and then was able to quickly say that Tom took a vacation week and was with Eli at home.

Was it that easy to forget that I'm a mom of two now? Maybe my routine with Tobey was so routine that when I get to do that old routine (we were out for the morning), then I revert back to when it was just me and Tobey. I'm glad for those me and Tobey times but now that Tom's back at work, I'm sure those moments will be fewer. I'll take them when I can.
