Membership has its privileges
Tom and I decided to get Happy Hollow membership. At $60 and a toddler who might enjoy it more now, we thought we could get our money back on it. This is our second venue membership, the first being the Monterey Aquarium which took no time to recup costs since it's so expensive and we had split it with Eric & CC.
So turns out that Tobey, being just past 2, now costs $6. So recuping the Happy Hollow membership cost will take no time. And today we went to the S.F. Zoo -- half price! I was anxious to peruse the list of reciprocating venues across the country, which includes the Portsmouth Children's Museum which is where Dennis and Tom took the kids when we were visiting NH in March.
Now I know why Pora ends up at Coyote Point, the CA Academy of Sciences, the Monterey Aquarium and Happy Hollow every week. If you can stand the driving (which I can't but she can), then having membership certainly gives you the excuse (and even prompts you with the idea) of going to these places for free or discount. And of course I'm sure all the venues are hoping you spend other money while you're there, like today's $5 parking or $22 lunch! (Next time, definitely packing a lunch!)
I hesitated on membership before, not knowing which was the best place to get the most reciprocating discount. Which venues I would take Tobey to the most. Tom's parents want to get Tobey a Discovery Museum membership for his 2nd birthday. Sounds good to me! If Tobey's buddies all have membership to some of these places, then it's oodles more fun for Tobey and Mommy!
