Tobey's dad

It's about time.

After Thanksgiving, Tom went over to Eric & CC's to pick up the aquarium passes for our trip with the family. He said for the first time he was introduced (to Eric's parents) as, "Tobey's dad", Tom's first name never mentioned. I could imagine Eric parents giving an "Oh!" and an enthusiastic nod as I'm sure they've heard a lot more about Tobey than they have about either me or Tom.

Welcome to the club. I'd rather be introduced as Tobey and Eli's mom rather than the way Grandma used to introduce me: "her number seven (7th grandchild), Harvard and MIT." There's much more humanity in being someone's parent than to be known by your degrees.
