This week

This week has been going a lot better than last week, especially the end of last week at the weekend. Thanks to Tom, the Mr. Mom, I got lots of time off to cool off from one of the most frustrating weeks of parenting for me.

Monday was dreamy. It was like God showed me some mercy and gave me an easy day. Although we had to drop out of playdate on account of Tobey's lingering cough, we had a good outing at IKEA (Eli slept the whole time, Tobey and I communicated well on the outing) and a good afternoon of napping. No whining from Tobey and I was glad to have a day of peaceful interaction with him.

The rest of the week was more "normal". While Tobey is 75% less whiny than last week, he has his moments that I've been trying to hedge off. Last night, Tom helped me think through what works for Tobey disciplinewise and I've been trying to conserve my energy by doing it. Basically, I'm so sick of hearing myself say, "Stop stop stop stop stop" or "No" so I'm trying to think (fast) of consequences that he wants or doesn't want. Seems to be working and keeping my frustration level down.
