Eli: Almost sitting up
Here we are at my parents' and we anticipated few places to put Eli given that he doesn't sit up by himself. At the risk of sounding like a parent that overdoes the baby gear, we even brought his doorway jumper so we know he'll be happy somewhere.
However, out of desperation, we tried him in a highchair that my parents borrowed from church friends a couple of years ago. We intended it for Tobey but Eli does well in it. He can now join us at the table with some toys, although after a while, he's still quieter sitting in someone's lap.
We were also at a loss as to how to give Eli a bath without the baby bathtub. The first night we started putting him in the big bathtub with Tobey but Tobey's loud excitement for bathtub and the loud roar of the spout seemed to scare him. My mom brought us a basin but that was too small. What ended up working well sizewise was a recycle bin that Andrew and Mei left behind! Yes, our second child sleeps in an office and gets bathed in a recycle bin. Shortchanged in so many ways.
But the point is, he's almost sitting up. He'll be happy to sit up too, so he can play with his toes more. :-)

have you ever tried the bumbo seat? it's wonderful for non-sitting infants. it's completely portable and it's great even for aidan now, because he can't get out of it like a highchair. check it out at http://www.bumboseat.com
it's my new favorite shower gift.
cheers,
