Eli: Daylight savings
"Spring forward" is typically a time of year loathed by all because of the hour of sleep lost. But I wonder if for parents of early risers everywhere, spring forward is actually the one thing that might just get our kids to wake up an hour later than they usually do. I wonder if Rachel woke up at "6:00AM" this morning instead of her usual 5:00. And I was hoping Eli would do the same.
But instead, my usual 6:30AM waker woke up at 6:40 and that's after "spring forward". So in reality he woke up at 5:40 according to his body clock which he has done before but not since Tom's parents' visit. So instead of waking up on this Lord's day praising Him (actually, I'm sorry to say that I rarely do anyway), I woke up this morning moaning and my inner voice wanting to say curse words. The one day I was hoping that Eli would wake up at 7:30 like Tobey and the rest of us want to, the one day where it was supposed to be easy for him to "sleep in", and he blows it.
Well, and so in fact this morning was more of an indication of my attitude than Eli's sleeping habits. If he's going to wake up at 5:40, then I should be thankful that of all mornings, he did it on daylight savings day where we could call it 6:40 instead of 5:40. But my disappointment was more about not being able to control his sleeping behavior, even when it should have been a no brainer and required no effort from me.
Eli has a chance to redeem himself tomorrow morning. But I suppose I shouldn't get my hopes up.

I sympathise because I also have an early waker..... usually 6:00 or 6:30am these days, but I am still thankful, because it used to be around 5am for the past 2 years! I am so envious when I hear about toddlers and babies even waking up at 9am or 11am in my playgroup!!!
