Tobey: Swimming lessons

Tobey's getting a swimming lesson right now, in our bathtub.

Actually, I think the true swimming lesson just comes with playing with us in the pool. It sparks his interest in the water and he gets more comfortable and interested. First it was the pool on our Niagara Falls vacation. Then the toddler pool at Emi's 4-month party. And then the Rinconada pool last Thursday with MTO. The other night during bath, I filled the tub with more than the usual couple inches of water and let him kick and try blowing bubbles. Now I hear Tom giving him a bath, and giving him lessons on putting his head under.

I flashback to the YMCA class that we took last year. Not only was it a waste of money because we only went to 3 out of 6 classes, I don't think it did much for him in the way of actually taking to the water. Maybe it's the age, maybe it's that we never took him swimming besides those classes. "Stiff as a board", Tom described him then. But now it's a little different.
