Potty training - part 2, day 2-3
Potty training has been going well. Although I do fear that I will be housebound until September.
Day 2 victories include a big one: a poopy! We were getting worried that Tobey hadn't pooped since Saturday bedtime. He was clearly holding it back as he would say "poopy!" and we'd run to the bathroom but he'd either fart or do nothing and declare "all done". He finally pooped twice in the potty. Don't think he's emptied his system but heh heh, he can't hold it in forever.
Day 3 victories include: I don't think he's had a big accident today! Yesterday he still had an occasional big puddle earlier in the day. But today, no big cleanups and underwear changes were only due to little leaks. We didn't have to rush to do laundry in order to keep up with his potty schedule.
Overall, he is still keeping a good attitude. When he gets into his "I don't want to" moods, he is more mature now to be able to be talked out of it and back into potty training. Yesterday, he didn't want to poop and he wanted to wear diapers again but Tom gave a fatherly "this is what big boys do" kind of talk. It's been invaluable to do this on a long weekend with both Tom and me home. Just having another presence in the room gives me more strength and patience to get through this process. Tom's been awesome at spear heading the effort.
I'm a little apprehensive about tomorrow, back to being at home alone especially when he's been preferring to go to the potty with Daddy than with me. Also, besides tonight's outing with pull-ups on, we haven't really been out and I've stocked up on groceries just in case we never do make it out before the weekend.
But there's no turning back now.
