The Y routine
I've been a bit silent online lately because things have been a bit busier. Not only last week with MTO food and nametags, not only because we need to scramble to find tickets to DC for Christmas, but also because I've been going to the Y for the only exercise I actually enjoy: swimming.
For the last week I tried the Y on their weeklong trial membership. I used to wonder who those trail memberships were for -- you either join or not -- but this time around, I needed the "trial" time to find out whether it was really feasible to drag out both kids to the free 90-minute childcare within the confines of the pool hours for lap swimming.
I found out that it's a little crazy, but it's doable, especially as I got a little better at it as the week moved on. I imagine the busy mornings is what it's like to work outside of the home and have to get everyone dressed and packed for the day, everyday. Mainly, needing to pack a breakfast for Eli as well as get to the pool in and out in time for a reasonable morning nap is what makes the morning a little hectic. The Tue/Thu routine is a little different than the MWF one but the whole schedule is early enough that I could even squeeze in going to the Y before heading down to playgroup on Mondays. The part of our routine that changes is the leisurely mornings, but otherwise, going to the Y doesn't really impact the rest of our day. Can I really do it, go regularly?
Well, I decided to try. Today I signed my life away and joined.
